Printing onto pine is a whole lot easier than printing onto hard wood.

Hand printed onto canvas. It has a rustic effect with some imperfections.

This is the original image (below). As you can see it has been reversed when printed onto the canvas.

I used the same technique as I used when printing onto timber. See below for instructions.

Printing onto timber

I have used some hardwood. It has been recycled and requires a great deal of sanding with very 'gritty' sandpaper.

You need a laser jet printed image. Inkjet images won't work. Photocopying a photo is the easiest way to go. Note, the image will be reversed so keep this in mind if there is writing in the image. Use an acrylic gel medium and brush a thin layer onto the timber. Place the photocopy down onto the timber, being careful to smooth out any bubbles. Leave to dry.

Once dry, have fun wetting the whole board and paper and rubbing all the paper off with your fingers.

Slowly the image will appear.

A layer of Mod Podge (from craft shop) to smooth and seal the print is next.

As you can see, the original image has been reversed.
